Lough Mask Distillery located on the shores of a beautiful lake, in county Mayo.
Lough Mask distillery hails from the ruggedly beautiful wild west, county Mayo. Located on the shores of the lake, Lough mask is a micro distillery. The old building which houses this boutique distillery was carefully renovated; as is much of the equipment inside the uneven old walls with unrivalled views of some of the most stunning landscapes around.
Eoin Holmes and Dominic Hanniagan are friends from childhood who have managed to keep their friendship throughout the decades and differing career paths. Both from Drogheda county Louth, on the east coast. they set up this venture with the aim to capture the essence of Ireland in a cask.
A Flowing Still
Their ancient Alembic Still started flowing with spirit earlier this year (2018); their plans to create some beautiful single malt with a flavour of the west, which they hope to add even more of a hint with their much anticipated peated single malt. Sadly though these beauties will not be released until 2021.
Spirits Of The West
Whilst we await these much anticipated beauties, they have been working on their gin and vodka; their aim is to show that it is possible to bottle Ireland in a bottle.
Lough Mask distillery is a unique place to visit and well worth it too. Hidden amongst the wilds of Mayo, it is a humble but beautiful distillery. This will be a visit you will never forget.
